A.R.T. is a specialized technique that has helped thousands of individuals with injuries related to auto accidents, work and sports related injuries that become permanent.
A.R.T. involves working with the muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints to influence the nerves to function properly. This allows the injury to heal faster so that the injured person can return to an active lifestyle.
Unlike traditional medical treatments such as using anti-inflammatory drugs, deep-tissue massage, stretching, and surgery, A.R.T. treatments are less intrusive, used as an alternative for faster healing, and manually breaking up adhesions. Adhesions are the scar tissue that entraps muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves. There are more than 30 places alone that can trap the nerves in the arm. Active motion is what separates this procedure from most other soft-tissue manipulation techniques. It is used in conjunction with release of the adhesions by the therapist.
At StillPointe, we are trained to evaluate and treat using A.R.T. for tendonitis, carpal tunnel, plantar fasciitis, frozen shoulder and other conditions that cause adhesion.
